Long queues of vehicles formed at petrol pumps following speculation of further increase in prices of petroleum products.
According to sources, the government has decided to increase the prices of petroleum products, a committee has been set up to increase the prices of petroleum products while the announcement of increase in prices of petroleum products is expected today.
Sources said that a committee headed by PML-N Vice President and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has been set up, which also includes Federal Minister for Finance Muftah Ismail and Minister for Petroleum.
According to details, news of increase in petrol prices is circulating on social media due to which the rush of citizens at petrol pumps has increased and long queues of vehicles have formed.
On the other hand, on the news of increase in prices of petroleum products, the supply of oil to petrol pumps by the oil companies has been stopped, which has created fear of petrol crisis in different cities of the country including Islamabad & Rawalpindi.
The Petrol Pumps Dealers Association has informed the government about the cut off of petroleum supply. According to the association, MD PSO, DG Oil has been informed about the matter and no progress has been made so far.
The Petrol Pumps Dealers Association told the government that the supply was cut off after a possible increase in the prices of petroleum products by the oil companies, It should be noted that during the last two weeks, the prices of petrol were doubled by Rs. The price has gone up to Rs 209.85 while Federal Finance Minister Muftah Ismail has repeatedly hinted at a further increase in petrol price in his press conference.
